ENGR 1300 - Engineering Processes

The course covers the use of basic machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, bandsaws, and grinders. Also included will be micrometers, vernier calipers and other devices of use in a machine shop or laboratory. In addition there will be an introduction to the CAD programming process and it's application to CNC machining. Welding techniques (both metallic and thermoplastic ) and the use manual and CNC plasma cutting machines will also be covered. 

Course Content

Use of manual and CNC engine lathe, use of vertical and horizontal milling machines, use of bandsaws and drill presses, learning measuring techniques with micrometers and vernier calipers. In addition welding techniques will be covered which include MIG welding applications of oxyacttylene equipment, manual and CNC plasma cutting, and thermoplastic welding technology.

The Student Shop Lab Manual is available on either LMS to students enrolled in ENGR 1300 Engineering Processes or through the shop supervisor.
