National Manufacturing Day aims to inspire the next generation of manufacturers by showcasing the diverse educational pathways, career opportunities and technological advancements across diverse manufacturing industries.
On October 3rd, RPI will participate by hosting over 170 regional high school students beginning in the CBIS Auditorium. The high school students will learn about the complexity of manufacturing a Black Hawk Aircraft from RPI Alum, Ryan Patry, ’00, ’08, Sikorsky Aircraft – Lockheed Martin Fellow Manufacturing Engineer. The talk will be followed by a RPI undergraduate (UG) student “Future Champions of Manufacturing” panel whereby current RPI students will share their journey in manufacturing classes, internship/co-op work experiences, research and what their goals are for their futures. After the program, the high school students will be guided through multiple manufacturing academic and research labs.
A major highlight of the day will be the anticipated landing of a Sikorsky Black Hawk Aircraft on the ’86 Field at 8:30 AM (pending final confirmation). The Black Hawk will be available to take a close-up look until the departure at 3:00 pm. Additionally, Snap-on will have its Rock and Roll Truck open for tours next to the ’86 Field, offering a unique experience for all attendees.
This event is open to the entire RPI campus from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. (Scan code for open labs) We look forward to bringing the community together to celebrate the future of manufacturing and inspire the next generation of innovators!
